About
I am a PhD candidate in Economics at the University of Melbourne. My research sits at the intersection of market design, microeconomic theory, and experimental and behavioural economics, with a focus on matching markets, information design, and school choice.
I began my PhD in January 2025 under the supervision of Dr. Siqi Pan, Prof. Tom Wilkening, and Dr. Georgy Artemov.
I hold a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) and a Master of Commerce from the University of Melbourne, where I was honored to be awarded the Faculty of Business and Economics Honours Prize and the Economics Honours Thesis Prize. My research is generously supported by the Helen Macpherson Smith Scholarship (2025, Humanities and Social Sciences) and the Australian Government Research Training Program Scholarship.

人们常以为我的名字取自‘一帆风顺’,希冀平坦。但它该被解读为‘长风破浪会有时,直挂云帆济沧海’。“帆”,向着惊涛骇浪,在拥抱广阔的沧海
Most people hear my name, Yifan, and picture 一帆 — the single sail in the blessing 一帆风顺, a wish for fair winds and a smooth, effortless passage. But my sail should be read differently. It belongs to Li Bai's verse: “There will come a time to ride the long winds and break the towering waves; I shall raise my cloud-white sail and cross the vast, open sea.” It is not a prayer for calm, but an anthem for the journey.
